On a recent trip to the Pacific Coast, I saw these large natural formations that were a result of a lave flow 10 plus million yars ago. There several other rocks known as Haystack Rock, but this one is a 235 foot tall sea stack in Clatsop County Oregon. The smaller rock formations are known as Needles and vary in size and height. The intertidal pools surrounding the rock are home to many sea animals including starfish, crabs limpets and is a nesting site for many sea birds such as puffins and terns. This Rock is close enough to the beach to allow visitors to walk out to the rocks during low tide. The area is popular for picnicking, bird watching and kite flying. I have painted this with a glowing sunset sky behind the rocks. It was a truly stunning sight. The original piece is framed in a 2.5 inch Walnut Frame. Please contact me for additional information on the original.
